FAQs

What are the admissions requirements?
1)  Submit an application for admission online now, provide your contact information to have an Admission Advisor contact you or call us at (504)931-0273. If you apply online, your application will be sent electronically to Lakeview Business College. After you submit your application, LVBC Online will contact you to complete the remaining steps.

2)  Conduct a personal telephone interview with one of our Admissions Advisors. All applicants are required to complete a telephone interview. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions about the curriculum and courses that interest you. Interviews are also used to determine whether applicants are qualified to become students at LVBC Online.

How long does the admissions process take?
The entire process can take as little as four to seven days to complete. However, this all depends on how soon you complete the personal telephone interview.

How much does it cost?
The cost of each on-line course at LVBC is only $650, which includes tuition, text-book, student guide, password access to our elearning center as well as any supplemental materials.

When can I enroll?
You can enroll in Lakeview Business College  at anytime and begin your studies six convenient times during the year. Each course is presented in eight-week terms and provides three credit hours and you may take your courses in any order. Upon successful completion of Lakeview Business College's academic requirements, you will receive your Certificate in Business. You can be assured, it's the same Certificate earned by your on-campus counterparts.

What forms of payment do you take?
Lakeview Business College’s goal is to provide an affordable education alternative. In addition to charging reasonable tuition fees, Lakeview accepts credit cards and payments via Paypal, a safe and secure method of online payment. If you prefer to provide payment information by telephone, your Academic Advisor can assist you with the process and accept your payment by telephone.

What if I need help with my course work?
It's easy to get help. You will have a close working relationship with your Professor and Academic Advisor at all times. If you have a specific question about a course, you can contact your academic advisor by toll-free phone, fax, email, or regular mail. You will be able to discuss your program progress and any questions you may have with that advisor. No other school provides you with this level of personal service.

How do I get my required course materials?
For each course in which you enroll, you will receive via mail (immediately prior to the start of the course) the corresponding textbook(s), student guides and case studies for your course, as well as any supplemental CDs, videotapes and audiocassettes if they are required for a particular course. Your Academic Advisor is available at all times to effectively guide you through the enrollment process, and to answer any questions you may have.

Can I complete all of the required course work online?
Yes. All of the courses offered by Lakeview Business College are available via the Internet. You will never have to step foot on campus.

What time are classes held?

You can participate in course discussions at any time, day or night, wherever you have an Internet connection. Not all of your course work requires you to work online—much of your writing, and project work can be done offline. Most people enter the online courseroom several times each week to participate in discussion, but there is no set class schedule so you can “attend class” any time of day.

How do I receive and hand in assignments?

All assignments are available in your online courseroom. Each week’s activities are clearly organized in the syllabus. You can view all assignments, due dates, and grading criteria to help you plan. You can view and print assignments, discuss them with your learning colleagues, and ask for feedback from your instructor.

How do I interact with my instructor and peers?

One of the greatest strengths of the Lakeview Business College online learning program is the opportunity to discuss issues and gain ideas from your instructors and other learners. Your Instructor is available via email, telephone and the dicussion forums to help make your learning experience interesting and enjoyable. Our Instructors are experienced business professionals that can guide you through each lesson and share their valuable experiences with you.

Will I be missing the give and take of a conventional classroom setting?

Lakeview Business College offers a highly personal and interactive learning experience. In fact, many people find their Lakeview education more interactive and engaging than sitting in a classroom. There are no lectures and no "back row." Everyone participates.
You will interact with faculty through weekly online discussion, and can contact your instructor via e-mail or telephone during the course if needed. Written feedback on assignments is another way that faculty members interact with learners. Your academic advisor is available by e-mail and phone throughout your Lakeview Business College program. Advisors help you plan your program, adjust the plan as needed, and assist with any other academic matters.

How much time should I reserve?

Typically, Lakeview learners spend an average of 5-10 hours per week per course, with times varying depending on such factors as pace of reading and typing, and prior knowledge of the subject matter.

What kind of computer do I have to use?
Please review these computer requirements carefully; computer hardware, software, and an Internet connection are the primary means of participating in courses and thus are significant contributors to academic success. Our courses and programs are available via the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed using a standard Web browser, an Apple or Pentium-class personal computer and an Internet service provider.
